We may not be getting new music from System of a Down any time soon, but singer Serj Tankian is releasing a new solo EP titled Foundations. The album is slated to come out this fall and its lead single "A.F. Day" (which stands for "Another F***ing Day") is set to drop on May 17.

“This is a song I wrote in the early days of SOAD that I never released," Tankian wrote in a statement about the track. "The majority of the instrumentation and vocals are recordings from that time. Dystopian in mood, it’s a reflection of the angst and anti-authoritarian attitude I had to conformity.”

Tankian previewed the new song with a 15-second teaser, and it sounds just as raw and biting as SOAD's early material.

Listen to the "A.F. Day" teaser below.

The new album isn't the only thing Tankian has on his plate this year. Over the weekend, SOAD headlined the Sick New World music festival in Las Vegas and over the summer will be playing a "once in a lifetime" show with Deftones at San Francisco's Golden Gate Park. He's also gearing up to publish a memoir called Down With The System on May 14.
