Sum 41 Frontman Deryck Whibley Contemplates Joining Linkin Park

Deryck Whibley, the frontman of Sum 41 appeared on The Jasta Show hosted by Hatebreed frontman Jamie Jasta. During their conversation Jasta brought up the topic of Deryck possibly becoming the frontman for Linkin Park, filling in for the late Chester Bennington. Jasta pointed out that back in 2018 Sum 41 was joined by Mike Shinoda for an awesome cover of Linkin Parks ’Faint.’

Even though Jasta complimented Deryck saying his musical style fits Chester, Deryck doesn’t know if he could take the frontman gig for Linkin Park. He doesn’t necessarily agree with Jasta on that. Deryck said it’s such a non-possibility that it’s too weird to even joke about joining Linkin Park.

At some point in the future Sum 41 will release ‘Heaven and Hell,’ a double album that’s half heavy metal and half pop punk. Currently Sum 41's putting the final touches on the album. Sum 41 will head out for a summer tour with Simple Plan which stops by the Brady Music Center May 13th.
