DERAILED IS OUR SPOTLIGHT BAND OF THE WEEK:
Derailed is one of those bands who travel to rock the Tri-State, they’re way out in the sticks of Washington Court House. The only good thing I can say about that place is they have a Hardee’s, ummm fresh sausage biscuits. Derailed is a 4 piece band who describes their sound as a mix of grunge & metal that consists of a loud sound. Jake Waters on drums, Nick Funari on bass, Caleb Nobie handles vocals and rhythm guitar and on lead is Ryan Tarbutton.
The guys started out as a cover band and morphed into a full on original band, recently releasing their debut album “Hanging Tree” which you can download, pick up a hard copy at one of their upcoming shows or go right now to certain streaming sites to give it a listen.
They will be playing Madison Live! March 4th and a second Tri-State area show at the Thompson House on March 11th. I reached out to the band to pick their brains on a few things.
How did you guys find your way to each other form Derailed?
Derailed was originally a cover band, which consisted of a 4 piece membership. Caleb Noble (vocals/ rhythm guitar) then started writing original songs, taking it from a cover band to a original band. Guitarist left due to creative differences, and Ryan Tarbutton joined as current lead guitar. 6 months later, drummer left due to personal issues. Then joined Jake Waters. Bassist Nick funari was one of the 4 members in the beginning.
What genre do you feel your band falls under? Describe your sound to us..
Our genre would have to be a mixture between Metal and Grunge. Our typical sound is "loud".
What is your favorite thing about being on stage?
Our favorite thing about being on stage is escaping from life. When we are on stage playing our music all problems disappear. There is not one worry in the world except the instruments in our hands and the people in front of us.
There's a lot of hard work to make a band successful, what is the hardest thing that the band has faced so far?
The biggest problem we have faced so far is our location. We are all from a small town called Washington Court House. No one bothers to come here to notice local bands.
Do you have some piece of advice for those considering putting together a band?
Patience is key. Hard work will pay off.
Are you playing shows or recording new music, what's ahead in the near future for Derailed?
We recently released our first album called "Hanging Tree". We have hard copies on cd and we are on various live streaming music sites, and iTunes. We are currently booking more shows as we speak. Currently we are playing March 4th in Covington Kentucky at Madison live, March 10th in our hometown of Washington Court House at the warehouse, and March 11th at the Thompson house in Newport Kentucky. You can contact us through Facebook, Instagram, and twitter for any information or other dates.
That’s it for this week’s NUDGECAST. If you want to add anything to the nudgecast, thoughts, feelings, suggestions reach out to me through Facebook or Nudge@Webn.com Share the NUDGECAST on Facebook & Twitter, nudge your favorite local bands to send me their new stuff and do your part by Rocking Hard & Rocking Local.
