Sometimes as the leaves start to fall, so does our mood. You kind of get in a funk you can't seem to find your way out of. It's normal to feel this way, but how do you get out of that mood?
Most of us turn to booze or something else to deal with our fall feelings. But you don't need to always do this. Sure, it's okay to take time, but don't let it take you away. So here are a few things you can do to chase away those fall feelings.
- Take charge of your growth - It gives you back some control during uncertain times. You can do anything you want to do, so why feel down. Be a "New You" in fall.
- Boost motivation - Learning new things keeps your brain engaged and helps boost energy. This could be anything. I want to learn more about cooking. You never know. If radio doesn't work out I could always be a chef.
- Become more mindful - Encourages awareness of your physical and emotional needs. You can tell people what you want, or better don't want. Only you know what's best for you.
- Improve mood - Completing small goals releases dopamine and strengthens social connections. These small goals have really helped. Especially since I've stopped drinking. It's not a race to the finish. You want to be in a better mood. Start with a positive attitude.
- Build consistent habits - Creates gentle accountability without external pressure. Join a league doing something that might be a little out of your comfort zone. You may just find out it's okay to not be the best at everything and you are allowed to have fun.
The fall is the season when everything starts to die, the leaves fall, and you get in a funk. But you don't have to stay there. But that's for you to decide.
