My kid has had a phone for a few years, and we know what she's doing most of the time. She loves TikTok, and Instagram when she watches with her mom. The other day she asked me if she could have her own account. RED FLAG! You need to be careful with kids online. Case closed. But what if Instagram offered a PG-13 version of the app for kids where parents would know who they were talking to? Would you be cool then? Well it's coming.
The app is getting a makeover so teens can use it making the app feel more like a movie with parental guidance. Go on you're saying? Okay.
The app plans to be really careful when it comes to your kids and the platform will now block teen users from seeing or chatting with adult accounts that post age-inappropriate content, expand banned search terms, and limit exposure to sexualized or risky material. So perves be gone.
So why now? The move is coming because of backlash over teen safety, as Instagram tries to prove it can prioritize safety without losing its youngest audience.
