Authorities are reporting the arrest of a man they say scammed Parma Heights out of over half a million dollars.
According to the report, in 2023, suspect Chinedu Opute sent the city a phony invoice for $504,000 to supposedly cover the cost of a contractor for work on a project, and the invoice was paid.
The city became suspicious when, they say, Opute tried the act on Parma Heights again a few days later.
Opute has since been arrested in the State of Georgia and has now been indicted on federal charges.
