STP's DeLeo reflects on the bands' late frontmen.

STONE TEMPLE PILOTS bassist and founding member Robert DeLeo has discussed what it’s like being the only rock band in memory to carry on after the deaths of not one, but two, successive lead singers – and how working with Chester Bennington was a particular blessing.

Original STP frontman Scott Weiland, parted from the band for the last time in 2012, and died in December 2015 of a drug overdose.

Regarding Weiland, DeLeo said: "You don't really experience things like that too often, when someone like that comes into your life and you create a dream. I'm here today because of what we created. He’ss always running through my spirit. As for Chester, he really was an amazing human being. He was like a brother. He had an amazing energy about him. He always looked for the solution; he never got tangled in conflict. He just had an energy. He was like an angel that stepped in and set us straight."

Chester Bennington joined STP in early 2013, but left nearly three years later to focus on his main band LINKIN PARK, before he died by suicide in July 2017.

STONE TEMPLE PILOTS with their current vocalist Jeff Gutt will co-headline a 12 date North American tour that will kick off in Baltimore on September 13th.
