A Digital Detox Could Be A Good Thing?

Sometimes it's a good thing to take a "Social Snow-day" or a "Digital Detox" as some are calling it now. It gives you time to actually watch a show, spend time with friends, you name it. But it's a lot harder for some.

So how does all of the time on the phone/device mess with your brain? Americans spend 4 to 5 hours daily on phones, but new research shows short breaks can dramatically improve brain function. Been dealing with anxiety in your life? This may help with that.

Also just the normal wear and tear on your mind and body. Sometimes it's just the right thing to put the device down. The research done on this showed improvements in mood, attention, and mental health equivalent to reversing 10 years of age-related cognitive decline, all from spending so much time on your phone.

A separate Harvard study found just one week of reduced smartphone use decreased anxiety, depression, and insomnia. So if you can't sleep, the death scrolling isn't helping that either.

Recent court victories have awarded millions in damages against Meta and YouTube for addiction-related harms, while Massachusetts considers banning social media for children under 14.

So is a Digital Detox in your future to help with your brain? I may try this one this weekend.
