San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy and Pro Bowl defensive end Nick Bosa have been ruled out for Sunday's (November 24) game against the Green Bay Packers.
Purdy (right shoulder soreness) and Bosa (left hip/oblique) were included as inactives on the Niners' injury report released on Friday (November 22). Additionally, starting left tackle Trent Williams was listed as questionable due to an ankle injury with San Francisco already without two of its most important players on both sides of the football in a rematch of their NFC Divisional Round win in January.
"We're missing two good players, definitely," said had coach Kyle Shanahan via ESPN. "But we've got a lot of good players out there. By no means do we not have a chance to win. We're going to fight our tails off and expect this to be a real good game."
Bosa was suspected to potentially miss a game for the past two weeks while Purdy's absence became more likely within the past 24 hours. The third-year quarterback was a limited participant during Wednesday's (November 20) practice, though Shanahan and the team believed his sore shoulder would improve as the week continued.
Purdy participated in light throwing before Thursday's (November 21) practice, which appeared to give him issues as he retreated to the weight room for additional treatment, which was viewed as a surprise to the team. The former Iowa State standout has gone 22-9 in 31 starts for the Niners during the past three seasons, which includes throwing for 2,613 yards, 13 touchdowns and eight interceptions on 202 of 306 passing in 2024.
Bosa, the 2022 NFL Defensive Player of the Year, has made the Pro Bowl during every year of his career excluding the 2020 season in which he was limited to just two games due to an ACL tear. The former Ohio State standout has recorded 36 tackles, 7.0 sacks, 10 tackles for loss, 17 QB hits and one forced fumble through his first 10 games.
