Taylor Swift Introduces Male Alter Ego Tyler Swift In 'The Man' Music Video

Taylor Swift is literally “The Man” of her latest music video.

Early Thursday morning (February 27), the superstar officially unveiled the highly-anticipated music video for her latest single “The Man.” In her self-directed visual, Swift channels her inner (and outer) machismo by introducing her male alter ego, Tyler Swift (voiced by actor Dwayne Johnson), a walking embodiment of all that is toxic about masculinity.

In under five minute’s time, Tyler boldly accepts all the luxuries of being his own boss behind and beyond the desk — and the video does well to demonstrate how the hubris of male privilege plays out in the real world. We’ve all encountered Tyler’s type: he man-spreads, smokes cigars on public transits and even relieves himself by whizzing the words “The Man” on a subway station wall which also contains the names of Swift’s past albums, including what may or may not be a hint at the title of another project called “Karma.” (JUST IMAGINE!!)

Other scenes depict Tyler living the life on yachts surrounded by beautiful women, ordering around his staff, slapping fives with those “19 hands,” playing the party boy persona and even embraces the arrogant male tennis player whose petulant rants go unchecked. In other words, Taylor hits the mark again and again… and again.

Though the sweetest moment of the video comes in its closing scene, which shows Taylor in the director’s chart giving some backhanded feedback, telling Tyler to be “sexier” and “more likable.” BURN.
