Joshua Seguine is accused of “illegal commercialization of fish, shellfish, crustaceans, and wildlife.” What’d he do? Allegedly, Seguine stores seven sandbar sharks in the above-ground pool in his LaGrangeville, New York’s back yard…and intended to sell them. The problem? Those sharks are protected species in New York, and the cost to “legally acquire” on is around $11,500. When Seguine’s home was searched in 2017, the dead sandbar sharks were found, in addition to two dead leopard sharks, a dead hammerhead shark, and “the snout of a smalltooth sawfish” – which is also an endangered species.
