Last night, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inducted Bon Jovi, The Cars, The Moody Blues, Dire Straits, Nina Simone and Sister Rosetta Tharpe.
Brandon Flowers (The Killers) inducted The Cars. I feel that was a perfect choice as I hear the Cars influence greatly on The Killers. The Killers also paid tribute to Tom Petty by performing "American Girl".
The most entertaining part of the night was when Howard Stern inducted Bon Jovi. I'm sure we'll see an edited version on HBO on May 5ht, but you can see the full thing below. Jon Bon Jovi's acceptance speech was 18 minutes long! The original line up all showed up and both past and current members of the band performed "You Give Love a Bad Name," It’s My Life”, their 2016 song “When We Were Us,” and of course, "Livin’ on a Prayer." Here's a link to more about the Bon Jovi performance: https://webn.iheart.com/content/2018-04-15-jon-bon-jovi-and-richie-sambora-reunite-at-rock-and-roll-hall-of-fame/?cmp=managed_social
Heart’s Ann Wilson, with Jerry Cantrell from Alice In Chains on guitar, performed "Black Hole Sun" in the In Memorial tribute.
There was no one selected to induct Dire Straits, and with both Mark Knopfler and his brother a no show, 3 of the inducted members inducted themselves. There was no performance of any kind.
For the first time, there was no "super jam" with all inductees and guests at the end of the ceremony.
HBO will broadcast most of the show on Saturday, May 5.
